Dirty Dancing Demos!

CD Baby is proud to now carry the original demos to the hits from the classic 80’s film Dirty Dancing hits “Hungry Eyes” and “(I’ve Had) The Time of My Life”. The songs were written by Franke Previte, who had some top 40 hits on his own in the 80’s.

According to Wikipedia, Franke and the Knockouts were signed by Millennium Records in 1981 and had three U.S. Top 40 singles and two Top 50 albums. Franke and the Knockouts’ biggest single, “Sweetheart” was written by Previte and band Guitarist Billy Elworthy and became a Top 10 hit in 1981.

Franke also won an Oscar for “Time of My Life”, the demoe for which is now available as part of a digital EP. The EP is a benefit for the Patrick Swayze Pancreas Cancer Research Fund, and Franke has a lot of press lined up for the release. He was recently featured in a big interview with Popeater, where he said, “After Patrick’s passing, I kept thinking to myself, There’s such a connection between this demo and this movie,” Previte says. “What can I do to kind of — I don’t want to sound corny here — but give back a little bit?”

In further Dirty Dancing news, Jennifer Grey (who’s now 50(!)) was recently announced for the next season of Dancing with The Stars.
